2 Suspects Sought in Dealership Carjack

Authorities continued their search Thursday for two men who carjacked a sport utility vehicle they had taken from a Valencia car lot for a test drive.

“Apparently they liked the car, because they left with it. They just didn’t pay for it,” said Det. John Bomben of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Santa Clarita Valley station.

Two men looked over the 1998 burgundy Ford Expedition at Magic Ford near the corner of Creekside Road and Auto Center Drive on Wednesday and asked to take it for a drive, Bomben said. A salesman climbed inside with them.

But one of the men pulled out a handgun and either he or the other man drove the car to Maclay Street and Gladstone Avenue in Sylmar, where the salesman was dropped off.

The salesman was not injured, Bomben said.

Both men were described as Latinos with mustaches. One appeared to be in his 30s, with thick, short, straight hair, about 5 feet 8 and 165 pounds. The other appeared to be in his 40s, with thick, short, curly hair, about 5 feet 7 and 230 pounds.

The SUV’s California license plate number was 3XHC234.

Anyone with more information about the crime is asked to call Bomben at (661) 255-1121, Ext. 5143.
