Metrolink Train Collides With Car Left on Tracks

A woman’s car was struck by a slow-moving Metrolink train Friday after she purposely abandoned the vehicle on the tracks, a sheriff’s sergeant said.

The woman was not injured. “She placed the car there on purpose,” said Sgt. Steve Gurlitz of the Santa Clarita station. “The train had slowed to about 5 mph.”

Although the woman’s motives were unclear, sheriff’s investigators said it could have been an aborted suicide attempt.
