New Class for Drivers in District
The Buena Park School District Transportation Department will be offering mountain driving training to interested bus drivers in the district.
Trustees approved the training, which will last eight hours for four days during the holidays. Funding for the course is taken from the General Fund.
Assistant Superintendent George Cottrell said students from every elementary school in the district attends a science camp each year for a week in the San Bernardino Mountains.
Rather than contract other bus drivers, the district prefers to train its own. Two specially designed buses are used on these trips, and by law drivers must have a special permit.
