Marshall Wortman; Benefits Negotiator in Hollywood

Marshall Wortman, 81, who helped negotiate pensions and other benefits in the entertainment industry. Wortman earned a master’s of business administration in accounting from Pace University and was an Army Air Force major during World War II and the Korean War. He spent more than four decades in the film industry and served as trustee, chairman or committee member of several entertainment industry trust funds, including the Directors Guild Pension and Health Plans, the Screen Actors Guild Pension and Health Plans, the Writers Guild Pension and Health Plans and the Motion Picture Industry Pension, Individual Account and Health Plans. He was president of Benefit Plan Consultants and consultant to the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers in pension, welfare and labor relations matters. He also served as director of business affairs at NBC-California National Productions and was studio manager and assistant to the president of Goldwyn Studios. Other jobs included labor relations director for Universal, senior vice president at 20th Century Fox and vice president of the Assn. of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Wortman was on the board of Blue Cross of California and chairman of its consumer relations committee, and was a board member of the Motion Picture and Television Fund and Hospital and of the Industry Health Network.
