Two men were fatally shot Saturday in an industrial area of Anaheim, officials said as they tried to untangle the circumstances of the incident.

Police received a call shortly before 5 p.m. of shots fired in the 1700 block of West Crescent Avenue, Police Sgt. Joe Vargas said.

“When officers arrived on the scene, they located a male victim on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” Vargas said. The man was taken to Anaheim Memorial Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

“The second victim was located in a construction area directly adjacent to the sidewalk,” Vargas said. He had also been shot several times and was declared dead at the scene.

At least one person fled the area by car, police said, but investigators had no description of the person or the vehicle. They continued to interview witnesses Saturday night. Neither victim had been identified, and police said they had no information on whether the shootings were gang-related.

“Typically in a shooting like this, all the families show up or friends of the victims. But that hasn’t happened,” Vargas said. “They remain unidentified.”

Orange County coroner’s personnel will conduct autopsies of the two men today, officials said.
