Animal Shelter to Close for Christmas

Share

Los Angeles Animal Services will close its doors for Christmas at noon Thursday and reopen at 8 a.m. Dec. 28.

In case of an emergency, Valley residents may still contact area shelters over the holiday weekend, said spokeswoman Margaret Sullivan.

“We do have personnel at the shelters 24 hours a day,” but not necessarily enough to pick up every stray animal, she said.

“It’s hard to say what exactly constitutes an emergency. An emergency might be a dog that is attacking someone.”

Residents who live west of the San Diego Freeway or north of California 118 are served by the West Valley shelter at 20655 Plummer St. in Chatsworth.

Residents in the southeast Valley are served by the East Valley shelter at 13131 Sherman Way in North Hollywood.

To reach a local shelter, call (888) 452-7381.
