MOTOR CITY BOWL

No. 11 MARSHALL (12-0)

vs. BRIGHAM YOUNG (8-3)

* When: 10:30 a.m.

* Television: ESPN

* Update: Despite being undefeated, the Thundering Herd needs a victory just to crack the top 10. That’s due in large part to its weak Mid-American Conference schedule. The Thundering Herd gets a chance to prove its mettle against a team that spent part of the season in the top 25. This one should feature plenty of offensive fireworks as two of the nation’s premier quarterbacks will be on display for the final time as collegians. Marshall senior Chad Pennington finished fifth in Heisman balloting after throwing for 3,799 yards and 37 touchdowns, and has many saying he will be the top quarterback chosen in next year’s NFL draft. Cougar senior Kevin Feterik had 3,553 yards passing with 25 touchdowns in 1999. Marshall finished seventh in the nation in total offense at 465.3 yards a game and BYU was 13th at 425.6. The experience factor goes to Marshall, which is playing in its third consecutive Motor City Bowl.
