Anti-Crime Program Aims to Aid Seniors
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department began a local crime prevention program this week geared toward fighting crimes against senior citizens.
The program, which includes a four-day course called Crime Awareness and Recognition for the Elderly (C.A.R.E.), is designed to provide residents with tips on personal safety, real estate fraud and the importance of being a good witness, said Sheriff’s Deputy Isaac Gonzales.
The program was developed to “provide the residents of our communities with enough information to help identify scam artists,” Sheriff Lee Baca said.
The remaining three sessions will be held Tuesday, Feb. 16 and Feb. 23 at the La Puente Senior Citizens Center at 16001 Main St. Each session runs from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m.
