Counterfeiter Sentenced; Made Fake Cash on PC
ORANGE COUNTY —
An Anaheim man convicted of using a personal computer and scanner to produce bogus checks and $20 bills was sentenced Wednesday to three years in federal prison.
Working out of a Yorba Linda garage, Kevin Metcalf, 38, may have manufactured as much as $120,000 in U.S. currency and corporate checks, prosecutors said.
Metcalf, a real estate appraiser, was arrested after a cohort tried to sell counterfeit checks to an undercover Secret Service agent during a sting operation.
