LAGUNA BEACH
A 31-year-old man killed Sunday night by a motorist as he attempted to run across Coast Highway in Laguna Beach has been identified by authorities as Alejandro Medino Cuevas of Dana Point. His companion, 24-year-old Esteban Torres Garcia, also of Dana Point, sustained multiple abrasions and fractures; he was listed in stable condition Tuesday at Mission Hospital, a hospital spokesperson said.
John Rubel, 51, of Laguna Niguel was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was not injured.
