The Orange County coroner’s office recently ruled the September 1998 death of Cal State Fullerton student Danming “Peter” Huang a suicide. Huang, a 29-year-old graduate student from China, overdosed on the antidepressant drug Chlorpromazine, said Pat Lorey, Orange County senior deputy coroner.

Huang had been missing for more than two weeks before police found his body along the Orange Freeway on Sept. 16. Investigators found bottles of the drug in a backpack alongside the body and in Huang’s bedroom. The medicine is often prescribed for manic depression. Although investigators did not know if Huang was prescribed the drug, friends said Huang seemed depressed before his death.
