The Washington Capitals finally have a home-ice advantage.

Mike Eagles’ goal with 13:57 left gave the Capitals a 4-3 victory over Toronto on Monday night and extended their home winning streak to five games.

Washington was 7-13-2 at the MCI Center before going 5-0 this month. The defending Eastern Conference champions are four points behind the eighth-place Florida Panthers in the battle for the final playoff spot in the East.

“We struggled at home earlier in the season, but we got a few guys back and the team’s playing a lot better,” Eagles said. “It’s good to be winning at home, that’s for sure.”
