The only consideration for choosing a recipe is taste (“The Best Recipes of 1998,” Dec. 30)? Taste has absolutely nothing to do with it. With four children under the age of 5, we have two considerations at the Slosberg household when it comes to choosing our best recipes: how long they take (anything over two minutes subjects the recipe to immediate disqualification) and whether the children eat the results.

Bearing these considerations in mind, here are our picks for the best recipes of 1998: (1) peanut butter and apple sandwich; (2) peanut butter and jelly sandwich; (3) peanut butter sandwich; (4) Eggo waffle with peanut butter; (5) Eggo waffle with jelly; (6) Eggo waffle with peanut butter and syrup; (7) macaroni and cheese (from the grocery deli); (8) pizza (delivered); (9) leftover pizza; (10) Cheetos as a last resort--the kids will always eat Cheetos.

Hooray for “The Best Recipes of 1998.” My favorite in the issue was the Second Helpings recipe for Pizza Pudding. So healthy: 2,016 calories per serving with only 6,576 mg of sodium and just 81 mg over the daily recommended 300 mg of cholesterol. I laughed long and loud when I read that! I assume this was a misprint?
