Hit-Run Driver Sought in Death of 5-Year-Old
Authorities are searching for a driver who killed a 5-year-old girl who wandered into the street outside her grandparents’ home.
Noeamy Duarte was hit by a vehicle about 9 p.m. Tuesday and was discovered later by her mother in the 2200 block of Pearson Avenue, said CHP Officer Louis Gutierrez.
Duarte died a short while later at Greater El Monte Community Hospital, officials said.
There were no witnesses but “there should be signs of damage to the front of the vehicle, perhaps hair fragments or shreds of clothing,” Gutierrez said.
The California Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s help. Anyone with information is asked to call (323) 980-4600.
