Foster enjoyed cooking--his children called him a connoisseur of the culinary arts--and building model trains. He was married twice.

Foster is survived by three sons, Calvin Craig Foster of Wildomar in Orange County, and Richard Darrel Foster and Robert G. Foster III, both of Costa Mesa; three daughters, Karen Ann Austin of Payson, Ariz.; Patricia Jean Saucedo of Wildomar, and Katherine Diane Bruce of Costa Mesa; a sister, Lorris Foster, who lives near Houston, and 12 grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. today at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura. Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura is handling the arrangements.
