A colorful drawing by an El Modena High School student was chosen to decorate the inauguration festivities of Gov. Gray Davis and then was moved to hang in the governor’s conference room at the request of the new first lady.
The picture by Eric Sargeant, 17, depicts the best of California: sky and sunbeams, sand, surf, oranges and even a surfer. Eric’s picture also made its way onto the inauguration logo.
Eric was honored Thursday night with the Orange Unified School District’s Student Excellence Award.
