Well, That’s the Way the Corn Chip Crumbles

Mr. Dufresne:

Count on the last people to recognize a quality football game when they see it to come from the West Coast.

There was tight defense from both sides on every play in the national championship game. The only sloppy parts of the game were the mediocrity (at best) of Marcus Outzen and turnovers, which resulted from tough defense.

Only a slanted reporter from L.A. could so effectively blur a high grade of football when presenting an analysis to his readers.

If those are the two best teams in college football, the BCS should hire David Falk and David Stern to improve next season.

Now we finally know how overrated Peyton Manning really was. Tennessee won the national championship as soon as he left.

The bowl championship series is a joke! I hope the BCS people and the NCAA don’t think that we fans are naive enough to believe that a true national champion was crowned Monday night.

The adjective “mythical” has been used to describe past national champions in college football because of the subjective and somewhat arbitrary nature by which the eventual champion was determined. The BCS format has done nothing to change this concept except diminish the significance of any bowl not predetermined to host the title contest, such as the Fiesta Bowl this year.

I would rather see college players and television coverage of slightly lesser quality than be subjected to another corporate shill perform his shameless dog and pony show during or after a bowl game. The corn chip salesman who helped present the trophy at the Fiesta Bowl made me so sick I believe I’ll never again be able to eat a certain brand of corn chip.

Who cares which gang of illiterate delinquents wins the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl? I wouldn’t give you a can of moldy bean dip for the entire bowl championship series. Everybody knows the Rose Bowl is the only game that counts.
