Amanda Wilson scored 24 points and Tamicha Jackson added 17 Saturday to lead fifth-ranked Louisiana Tech to an 84-66 victory over Michigan at Ann Arbor, Mich.

Wilson scored 12 points in each half, as the Techsters used their quickness to produce 20 steals and 26 layups. Jackson collected five steals and pressured Michigan into many of its 26 turnovers.

“We are not a very big team, but we’re very quick,” Louisiana Tech Coach Leon Barmore said. “Our quickness was the difference today. We got a lot of steals and breaks.”

Louisiana Tech (12-2) also got 12 points from Shaka Massey and 11 from Monica Maxwell.

Maxwell’s six points keyed an 11-2 Tech run at the start of the second half that built a 45-34 halftime lead into a 56-36 advantage with 15:10 to play.

“I told them at halftime that Louisiana Tech was going to come out strong in the first five minutes,” said Michigan Coach Sue Guevera. “That’s when they’re supposed to bury us.”

They did. Michigan (9-3) never again got closer than 16.

“We never underestimate anyone we play,” Wilson said. “We know they’re going to be hyped to play Tech.”
