Couple Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide
An adult daughter of an elderly Japanese American couple found her parents shot to death in their Sylmar home Wednesday, victims of an apparent murder-suicide, police said.
Officers were called to the home in the 13200 block of Wheeler Avenue after receiving a 911 call at 10:10 a.m. from the daughter, said Lt. Rick Papke of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Division.
Some of the couple’s children had come for a visit and found the bodies, he said.
The 82-year-old husband, a retired flower grower, is believed to have shot his 80-year-old wife and then turned the gun on himself, Papke said.
A handgun was found in the house, along with antidepressant medication for the husband, who had recently suffered a stroke, he said.
The couple’s identities are being held pending notification of other family members, he said.
