Idaho 67, UC Irvine 62--The Vandals outscored the Anteaters, 18-8, in the last nine minutes for a Big West Conference victory before 3,795 at Moscow, Idaho.

Idaho (7-7, 3-2) took their first lead, 56-54, with six minutes left. Cameron Banks scored 23 points, making 11 of 12 free throws, for the Vandals. His dunk with 4:17 left gave Idaho a 62-58 lead. Two free throws by Gordon Scott put Idaho ahead, 64-60, with two minutes left.

Mistakes did in Irvine down the stretch. Guard Jerry Green lost the ball driving to the basket with the Anteaters down by two points, guard Gabe Cagwin took his eye off a pass, having to ball hit of his hand and go out of bounds with his team trailing by four and Adam Stetson was unable to corral a rebound with a minute left and Irvine down two.

“It was matter of a few loose balls and a few missed shots,” Irvine Coach Pat Douglass said. “We came in here and stuck to our game plan and battled hard.”

The Anteaters (5-9, 1-3) controlled the game early, shooting 52% from the field in the first half and taking a 35-31 lead.
