COSTA MESA
The Planning Commission has banned mini-warehouses and other low-traffic-generating businesses from Newport Boulevard as part of the city’s efforts to revitalize the stretch of road between 19th Street and Mesa Drive.
There are five mini-warehouse projects on Newport Boulevard. According to staff reports, a retail project could generate up to 10 times more traffic than a storage unit.
The city is re-forming the Newport Boulevard Study Committee to look at how to implement the Newport Boulevard Specific Plan and form a business improvement district.
