IRVINE
The Community Police Academy is searching for its next class of community members. The purpose of the academy is not to train people how to become police officers but rather to show them what it’s like to be one through 13 weekly three-hour sessions, Police Chief Charles Brobeck said.
Applicants must live or work in Irvine, be at least 21 years old, undergo a background check, demonstrate a commitment to the program and have no felony or misdemeanor convictions within the last year. The spring session starts March 17. Information: (949) 724-7149.
