NEWPORT BEACH
Mayor Dennis D. O’Neil has been elected to the El Toro Citizens Advisory Commission, a regional advisory committee considering future uses for the El Toro Marine base. The election was held by the League of California Cities, Orange County division.
“The land-use decisions involving El Toro will have a significant impact on John Wayne Airport,” O’Neil said. “It is a facility that we, the city of Newport Beach, need to monitor carefully. Any expansion of John Wayne Airport will adversely affect us.”
O’Neil, who favors an airport at El Toro, was elected to a four-year term representing the 5th Supervisorial District. Also elected were Anaheim Mayor Tom Daly to the 4th District seat and Garden Grove Councilman Mark Rosen to the 1st District spot.
