McCray, Holdsclaw Lead Mystics

Nikki McCray scored 16 points, and Chamique Holdsclaw added 14 as the Washington Mystics rallied in the second half to defeat the New York Liberty, 71-63, Tuesday at Washington. Holdsclaw scored 10 of her team’s final 23 points, giving Washington (3-8) its second win over New York (7-4).

Utah 104, Detroit 94--Natalie Williams scored 31 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Starzz (4-6) to a double-overtime win at Salt Lake City. Sandy Brondello had 33 points for Detroit (5-7).

Houston 80, Minnesota 54--Cynthia Cooper had 21 points and nine assists to lead the Comets (11-1) at Houston. Minnesota (5-5) missed 11 shots after making its first.

WNBA Notes

Final fan balloting for the WNBA All-Star game selected Western Conference starters Sheryl Swoopes, Cynthia Cooper, Tina Thompson, Lisa Leslie and Michele Timms. Starters selected for the Eastern Conference were Chamique Holdsclaw, Nikki McCray, Kim Hampton, Teresa Weatherspoon and Rebecca Lobo (out with injury).
