Suit Alleges Banks Disclosed Personal Details
Seventeen Orange County residents are suing Bank of America, Wells Fargo & Co., Union Bank of California and Golden State Bancorp. for allegedly disclosing their personal information to telemarketing firms.
The lawsuit--filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by the law firm Mehrban Ghalchi & Yeroushalmi--is seeking class-action status. The same firm filed a similar action earlier this month in San Francisco Superior Court. The banks have denied that their actions violated any state or federal laws. But several of the institutions have halted the practice of disclosing or selling the data.
