Margaret Davidson; Former News Copy Editor

Margaret McGrath Davidson, a former copy editor for the Simi Valley Enterprise and 30-year Simi Valley resident, died Thursday. She was 79.

She was born Margaret Alice McGrath on June 8, 1920, in Camp Dix, N.J. Her father was in the Army, and the family moved several times while she was growing up.

She met her future husband in San Antonio, and they married in 1943.

In the early 1960s, the Davidsons moved to California, first to Sunnyvale and then to Simi Valley in 1969.

Davidson was active in the local, district and state PTA. She was also involved with Republican politics in Sunnyvale and Simi Valley.

In addition to her extensive volunteer service, Davidson worked at the Simi Valley Enterprise as a proofreader and copy editor for 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Francis, and a son, Gordon.

Davidson is survived by daughters Elizabeth Davidson of Huntington Beach, Theresa Jacobson of Northridge and Sarah Snadow of Highland Village, Texas; sons Thomas of Aurora, Colo., William of Tucson, James of Crystal Lake; sisters Charlotte Thomas of Ajo, Ariz.; Mary Curry of Anchorage; brother Harold McGrath; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Reardon Simi Valley Mortuary. A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday in the mortuary chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Father Michael Carcerano officiating. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery, Simi Valley.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Reardon Simi Valley Mortuary, Simi Valley.
