LA PALMA

The city is hosting a free old-fashioned family picnic Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Central Park. Activities include face painting, potato sack races and a watermelon-eating contest. Drinks will be available for purchase, and prizes, popcorn and cotton candy will be given away throughout the afternoon. The picnic will be followed by a concert featuring the swing band Al Sanada.
