Clues Sought in Woman’s Disappearance
Anaheim police were still looking Wednesday for an 18-year-old mother who hasn’t been seen since going to a nightclub with friends nearly a month ago.
Marianna Tapia, a single mother who has a 4-year-old girl, was last seen July 2 at the El Rodeo nightclub in Pico Rivera. Tapia’s family is taking care of her daughter and are worried about the young woman’s safety.
“She has a pager and she’s not answering her pager,” said her brother, George Tapia. “She hasn’t called her daughter or any of her friends.”
Officers received an anonymous phone call Tuesday reporting a sighting of the Anaheim woman in San Bernardino, almost 60 miles east of the club, but Sgt. Joe Vargas said the sighting was unconfirmed.
“We’ve received a couple of phone calls and talked to people who think they’ve seen her,” but he said police don’t have any substantial leads.
“It’s very disconcerting that she’s not returning calls or pages,” Vargas said.
Tapia is Latina, 5 feet 10 and about 150 pounds. She has long brown hair and green eyes. Anyone with information about the missing woman is asked to call Anaheim police at (714) 765-1900.
