* The Ventura County Professional Women’s Network has selected Yvonne Ontiveros, director of Excel Training Services, as this year’s Spirit of Networking Award recipient. The award, given annually since 1985, is the group’s highest honor.

The network is a nonprofit organization established to promote the professional and personal growth of Ventura County women through education, mutual support and the sharing of resources.

* Attorney Nancy Miller has been made a partner in the law firm of Nordman, Cormany, Hair & Compton in Oxnard. Her practice focuses on school and employment law as well as general civil litigation.

Before entering the legal profession, Miller worked in public education for 23 years.

* Wiley & Associates in Westlake Village has promoted copywriter Denise Miller and art director Julie Katakura to be the company’s new creative co-directors. Miller and Katakura work on Wiley’s newest accounts, Healthtex Children’s Clothing and Orly Nail Care.

Wiley focuses on bringing the women’s perspective to advertising.

* Four people have been honored for their contribution to tourism by the Greater Oxnard & Harbors Tourism Bureau.

Ed Robings, director of the Ventura County Museum of History & Art, was awarded the Tourism Merit Award for his development of countywide cultural tourism. Cindy Lyon, owner of the Harbor Hopper, received the Tourism Business Award for her efforts in providing service to incoming VIPs and maintaining a popular tourist draw.

The Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Shirley Olsen, who volunteers at the Ventura County Maritime Museum, Heritage Square, Oxnard Friends of the Library and the Oxnard Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Carol Drescher, coordinator of the Hospitality & Tourism Academy sponsored by Oxnard High School and the Ventura County Regional Occupational Program, received the Tourism Education Award.

* Architect Elizabeth Nevandro Perez has joined the design team at Heathcote & Associates in Westlake Village. She has worked for general contractors and a developer in Ventura County, where she became versed in land development, construction administration and management. She also was responsible for design of the Oxnard Veterans Memorial.
