The city’s revamped newsletter--easier to read and packed with more news about city government--hit the mailboxes of 35,000 residents and businesses last week. The City Outlook now looks more like a newspaper and less like an announcement of upcoming community events. For example, the latest edition--Summer 1999--has articles about the grants and awards the city has received this year, how property tax revenues are spent to pay for services and an update on construction projects.

Karen Wylie, assistant to the city manager, said the quarterly newsletter was produced in-house. The project ended up being less expensive than contracting out the service, even though the quality of paper went up and more colors were used.
