Outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. of the Seattle Mariners leads American League players in early balloting for the 70th All-Star game.

Griffey, an all-star starter every year since 1990, has 218,134 votes in balloting announced Monday. That is almost 66,000 more than the second-best total of 152,813 for Texas Ranger catcher Ivan Rodriguez.

Early National League results will be announced today. The game is July 13 at Boston.
