Accordion mania will prevail when Louisiana is transplanted to Long Beach for the 13th annual Southern California Cajun & Zydeco Music-Dance-Food Festival. Queen Ida & Her Zydeco Band, Terrance Simien, Eddie Lejeune & the Morse Playboys and Acadiana play Saturday and Sunday, with other acts on each day’s bill.

The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium celebrates its annual Whale Fiesta, which coincides with the completion of another whale-watching season. The celebration begins with the building of a life-size sand sculpture of a humpback whale. There will also be a Cetacean Sand Sculpture contest for families. The event will include lectures, slide shows, puppet shows, arts and crafts for children, and exhibitor booths.

Breezy, six-voice singing group Beachfront Property joins the Long Beach Symphony Pops under the direction of Michael Krajewski to present jazz and pop tunes in harmonious fashion in a program dubbed “California Dreamin’.” Doors to the arena open early so concert attendees can enjoy picnicking at tables on the arena floor before the concert.
