Dual construction projects on and around the Balboa Bridge are expected to delay area traffic throughout the week, officials said Tuesday. While a construction crew has been executing a seismic retrofit of the bridge connecting Balboa Island to the mainland, work on Marine Avenue has often involved closing both lanes for extended periods. “This has caused tremendous traffic jams,” said Jim Dastur, vice president of the contracting firm working on the bridge. Dastur asks that motorists have patience with workers.
