A 45-year-old Ojai man died when he lost control of his motorcycle and slammed head-on into a sports utility vehicle, authorities said Friday.

The crash occurred about 8:30 p.m. Thursday just inside Ventura County on California 150 south of California 192, authorities said.

Randal Draucker was driving home after visiting a friend in Carpinteria when he drifted into oncoming traffic and was struck by a Chevrolet Blazer, said Deputy Coroner James Baroni.

Draucker was wearing a helmet but he sustained massive head and neck injuries, Baroni said.

The driver of the Blazer, a juvenile whom authorities would not identify, suffered minor injuries and was treated at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, Baroni said.

Toxicology tests will be done to determine whether alcohol contributed to the crash. Before the crash, Draucker was having drinks with his friend at a Carpinteria restaurant, Baroni said.

Draucker was a helicopter repairman who worked in Alaska for a couple of weeks each month and then returned to Ojai, Baroni said.

He is survived by his father and a brother who live in Bakersfield. Funeral arrangements were being made Friday.
