Santa Ana Unified School District Assistant Supt. John Bennett will speak at the Assistance League of Santa Ana on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Modjeska House, 1031 W. 1st St. The organization aids schoolchildren in grades K-5 by providing clothing, dental care, vision exams and glasses. So far this year, more than 1,000 children have received two sets of the district’s required uniforms through Operation School Bell. High school seniors and college-bound community college students receive scholarships. About $24,000 was awarded at the end of the 1997-98 school year. Information: (714) 664-0547.
