For 57 minutes, the Philadelphia Flyers played like they didn’t care if they matched a franchise-record losing streak.

But three goals in the final 3:06 of regulation gave the struggling Flyers a 3-3 tie Saturday with the New York Islanders at Philadelphia.

Eric Lindros’ 37th goal with 50 seconds left capped the rally and allowed the Flyers to stop a five-game losing streak.

“I just tried to stuff it in,” Lindros said of the tying goal. “I saw it pop out and saw it was still alive in the crease. I got my stick down and took a quick swat at it.”

Dave Babych, who started the comeback with his first goal, and Valeri Zelepukin also scored for Philadelphia.

Ottawa 3, Toronto 1--Ron Tugnutt made 25 saves as the Senators won a meeting between the Northeast Division’s top two teams at Kanata, Canada.

Alexei Yashin, Marian Hossa and Vaclav Prospal scored for the Senators before 18,500 at the Corel Centre, Ottawa’s 11th sellout.

Carolina 2, Florida 2--Scott Mellanby scored an unassisted power-play goal in the third period as the Panthers tied the Hurricanes at Sunrise, Fla.

The Hurricanes, ranked last on the power play in the NHL and scoreless in their previous 24 chances with the man advantage, got power-play goals from Sami Kapanen and Ron Francis.
