SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

An employee at The Block in Orange was stabbed early Friday, police said, and a co-worker was being sought in connection with the attack.

Thomas Avila, 21, an employee at Dave & Buster’s complex on The City Drive, was in serious condition late Friday at UCI Medical Center in Orange with a punctured lung and knife wounds to his back and arm. Authorities were seeking fellow Dave & Buster’s employee Jashua Christopher, 25, identified by witnesses as Avila’s assailant, police said.

Police were called to The Block at 1:40 a.m. and found Avila lying wounded in a parking lot, said Orange Police Sgt. Larry Pore.

Witnesses told police that Avila, who monitors games at the amusement center, had finished his shift and was drinking at the bar when he and Christopher, a doorman and games supervisor, began to argue. The two men, still arguing, went to the parking lot, where the attack on Avila occurred, Pore said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Det. Cathie Ralph at (714) 744-7575.
