Councilwoman Proposes Creating Community Panel

Unwilling to wait for charter reform, City Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski said Monday she will create an Encino Community Council to advise her on issues affecting that area.

The City Council has voted to put a new charter on the ballot later this year that would create neighborhood councils.

Miscikowski has scheduled a public meeting for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Encino Community Center to outline her proposal and receive input.

She plans to appoint a diverse panel, including business owners, renters, homeowners, school officials and social service agency workers.

“My vision for a community council is also one of a deliberative body which can also keep me and my staff informed of problems in the community and advise me on ways of solving them,” Miscikowski said.
