Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co., the world’s biggest chewing gum maker, named William Wrigley Jr. to replace his father as chief executive and president, 10 days after William Wrigley died of pneumonia. Wrigley Jr., 35, who had been senior vice president, represents the fourth generation of the family to head the company.

Deere & Co., the biggest U.S. maker of farm equipment, said it formed an alliance with South Africa’s Bell Equipment to sell and service trucks used for off-highway construction and mining, expanding its line of construction equipment. The alliance gives Deere an unspecified equity stake in Bell.

Suiza Foods Corp.’s proposed $123-million purchase of Broughton Foods Co. was challenged by U.S. antitrust regulators, who said in court papers that the transaction would lead to schools paying more for milk. The Justice Department filed suit in federal court in London, Ky., to block the transaction two days after the agency said it planned to challenge the combination.
