LAGUNA WOODS
The city’s newly elected officials will be sworn into office this afternoon, as Laguna Woods becomes the nation’s first municipal retirement community. County and state officials will introduce City Council members Bert Hack, Victor Kay, Brenda Ross, Ann Snider and Jim Thorpe; Santa Ana Superior Court Judge Francisco Firmat will swear them in. The Laguna Hills High School marching band will perform the national anthem, and a party will follow. The city is holding the ceremony and its first meeting in the Methodist church at 24442 Moulton Parkway. The inauguration ceremony starts at 2 p.m. Information: (949) 837-3414. (Related story, B1)
