Sex Trial of Mayor’s Wife Delayed Again

Share

The trial of the wife of Pasadena Mayor Chris Holden on charges of unlawful sex with a teenage boy has been delayed for the fourth time.

Pasadena Superior Court Judge Joseph DeVanon moved Michelle Holden’s trial date to April 19--a day before the city’s mayoral election--to accommodate her attorney, Mark Geragos, who is defending Whitewater figure Susan McDougal in an Arkansas trial on contempt charges.

Voters on April 20 will choose either Chris Holden or Bill Bogaard to become the city’s first elected mayor in 88 years.

Michelle Holden was indicted by a grand jury in July on six felony counts, including unlawful sexual intercourse and oral copulation. She also was charged with two misdemeanor counts of annoying or molesting a child. The mother of four pleaded not guilty to the offenses, which allegedly occurred in early 1998.
