Blue Jays Put Berroa on DL
The Toronto Blue Jays put Geronimo Berroa on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 2. Berroa, suffering from a strained right knee, is the eighth Blue Jay on the disabled list and the team flew in a trainer from its Florida camp to help trainer Tommy Craig. The Blue Jays normally have two trainers but one is in Seattle with catcher Darrin Fletcher, who was unable to fly home after suffering two fractured bones around his right eye when a ball ricocheted off a batting cage last week. He is expected to be sidelined for three weeks. Anthony Sanders was recalled from triple-A.

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays demoted Tony Saunders to triple-A Durham, 12 days after the left-hander held the Baltimore Orioles hitless for 7 2/3 innings. In his next two starts, though, Saunders gave up 14 earned runs on 16 hits and walked five in 7 1/3 innings. Reliever Eddie Gaillard was recalled from Durham to fill the roster spot.
