For Davis, Leaving UCLA Is a Two-Gone Conclusion

Share

J.A. Adande hit it right on the head in the Baron Davis issue [May 13]. As a UCLA season-ticket holder and lifelong fan, I have to express the same disillusionment with Baron that Adande did. Baron has great individual skills, and maybe in today’s NBA that’s all you need.

What exactly did Baron accomplish, though, besides a personal highlight reel? Consecutive third-place conference finishes, a first-round tournament tank against Detroit Mercy, etc., are all he has to show. If truly a “gamer,” he would not have been able to resist coming back to this young and highly talented UCLA team and making a legitimate run at the Final Four.

Then again, the NBA does offer all that money and six fouls to use instead of five.

“National championship, NBA,” Baron Davis said. “Which one would you rather have?”

Well, Mr. Davis, when you are drafted by the Clippers, you will experience what you would have rather had. Best of luck to you.
