At the NCAA Division I softball regional in Seattle:

CS Fullerton eliminated--The Titans lost two extra-inning games and exited the playoffs.

In an elimination game, Fullerton (36-29) scored a run in the top of the 11th to take the lead, but Hawaii (35-22) scored twice in the bottom of the inning to win, 4-3. Monica Lucatero, Dara Marzolo, and Wendi Griffin each had two hits and an RBI for the Titans.

In the first game, Washington (47-17) defeated Fullerton, 1-0.

At the regional in Baton Rouge, La.:

Oregon State 3, Long Beach State 0--The 49ers (34-21) managed only six singles and lost after the Beavers scored twice in the sixth and once in the seventh. Melanie Muniz went three for three for Long Beach, which was eliminated.

At the NCAA Division III softball championships in Eau Claire, Wis.:

Simpson (Iowa) 2, Chapman 1--In the winners’ bracket final, Chapman committed two errors in the seventh inning and Simpson (46-3-1) scored an unearned run to win. Chapman (33-9) must win twice today to reach a championship game Monday.

In an earlier game, Stephanie Carew hit a two-run, bases-loaded single with one out in the eighth to break a scoreless tie and lead Chapman past Wisconsin Eau Claire in eight innings, 5-0.

At the NCAA West Regional men’s golf tournament at Tucson National:

Arizona State, Quinney win--Arizona State’s Jeff Quinney shot a final-round two-under-par 70 to finish at seven-under 209 and win the 54-hole tournament by three strokes. Arizona State also won the team title at 10-under 854, eight strokes ahead of second-place Nevada Las Vegas.

UNLV’s Chris Berry (Esperanza High) shot 71 and UCLA’s Jeff McGraw (Servite) shot 73 to finish tied for 20th at four-over 220. Arizona State’s Jin Park (Sunny Hills) shot 75 and finished tied for 29th at 222.

UC Irvine’s Mike Lawrence shot a two-over 74 to finish tied for 63rd.

At the NCAA women’s golf championships in Tulsa, Okla.:

Duke, Park win--Thunderstorms caused a two-hour delay in Saturday’s fourth round before the tournament was called. With the final round incomplete, third-round results were final.

Arizona State’s Grace Park won the individual title at one-under 212, edging Duke’s Candy Hannemann by one stroke. Duke won the team title by eight strokes over Georgia and Arizona State.

In nonconference baseball:

Miami 8, Long Beach State 6--Jaeme Leal led the 49ers (33-23) with two RBIs. Miami is 41-13.
