If MTV is where you find what’s happening now, then recent MTV kid-of-the-moment Camp represents what’s happening now, right? By that logic, MTV should be playing a lot of Twisted Sister and Cheap Trick, since this album (in stores Tuesday) is drenched in that ‘70s-’80s youth-anthem aesthetic (with Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, as well as Stevie Nicks, among the guests). But Camp’s sub-Sid Vicious delivery plays as, well, camp, blocking any potential connection with listeners.

Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent). The albums are already released unless otherwise noted.
