2 Newhall Men Die in Crash on I-5
Two Newhall men were crushed to death early Thursday when they smashed into the rear of a big rig on the Golden State Freeway, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
“They slid under the dock bumper, wedging their vehicle against the rear axle of the truck,” said CHP Officer Richard Perez. Authorities responded to the accident, which took place at about 12:15 a.m. on the northbound I-5 near the Balboa Boulevard exit, according to Perez.
The identities of the men, ages 29 and 47, had not been released by the Los Angeles County coroner late Thursday.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known, Perez said.
