Ventura Women Win WSC Northern Division
Sarah Costello scored her 16th goal of the season and Ventura College defeated Hancock, 4-0, on Tuesday to clinch the Western State Conference Northern Division championship in Santa Maria.
Missy Kavelage had two saves for Ventura (15-3-4, 11-0-2 in conference play).
Hancock is 6-10-4, 3-6-3.
Canyons 8, Glendale 2--Christa Sanchez scored three goals for the Cougars (16-2-1, 9-2-1) in a WSC Southern Division game at Glendale.
Magaly Estrada scored twice for the Vaqueros (1-17, 0-13).
MEN’S SOCCER
Moorpark 1, Citrus 0--J.D. Rotteau scored in the fourth minute on an assist from Jorge Rodriguez in a WSC game at Moorpark (7-8-3, 4-2-2).
MEN’S WATER POLO
Fullerton 12, Valley 11--John Baker scored three of his seven goals in the fourth quarter for Fullerton, ranked eighth in the state, in a nonconference game at Valley.
Ryan Rittmiller had five goals and two assists for Valley (15-10-1), which held a 10-9 lead after three quarters.
Baker scored the game-winner with 4:28 remaining.
Rittmiller tied the game, 11-11, for the Monarchs at 5:23 after Baker scored for Fullerton.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Canyons def. Glendale, 15-0, 15-5, 15-5--Mary Keen had 11 kills and no errors in 15 attempts, giving her a .733 attack percentage for the Cougars (11-4, 5-0) in a WSC Southern Division victory at Glendale.
