Lancaster 20, Quartz Hill 14--Tony Ortiz, who rushed for 164 yards in 25 carries, came up with the big plays and the Eagles (4-6, 3-2) earned a Division III playoff berth at Quartz Hill.
Ortiz scored on a five-yard with 2:34 to play, giving Lancaster its first lead of the game. He then intercepted a pass with at his 10-yard line with 10 seconds left to end a threat by Quartz Hill (3-7, 1-4).
On the game-winning drive, Lancaster was stopped on third and eight at its 40, but spearing and unsportsmanlike-conduct penalties gave the Eagles a first down at the Quartz Hill 28.
Joe Lopez scored on a 33-yard run on the game’s opening drive and running back Derrick Teal scored on a 65-yard run to give Quartz Hill a 14-0 lead in the second quarter.
