* The photography exhibition “India: A Celebration of Independence, 1947-1997,” which includes 250 photos by 21 photographers, is on display through Dec. 30 in the Exhibit Hall and Sidney R. Yates Gallery of the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St. Free. (312) 744-2400.

* Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art’s “At the End of the Century: 100 Years of Architecture” opens Dec. 18. The show is organized in 21 sections, and elements of the display were designed by Frank Gehry. 220 E.
