Beach Closures

Share

Six of the eight beaches closed last week because of bacterial contamination had all been reopened as of Thursday when new sampling indicated water quality at the sites met state minimum standards, officials said.

The reopened beaches are Rincon Beach, Faria County Park, San Buenaventura Beach, Peninsula Beach, South Jetty and Surfers Knoll.

The beaches that continued with posted no-swim warnings Thursday were Hobie Beach and Channel Islands Harbor Beach Park, the latter of which has failed water contamination tests repeatedly in the past few weeks, officials said.

Those beaches will remain closed until environmental health officials have determined the water meets state standards for quality.
